IMC Conference 2014

On behalf of the Rutgers University Glee Club and the Intercollegiate Men’s Choruses, we cordially invite you to attend the 2014 IMC Conference to be held March 6–8 at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The conference will feature performances by ten outstanding collegiate choruses, as well as several other performances from choruses in the community. The Rutgers University Glee Club is pleased to announce that we will perform one of the monuments of the repertoire for men’s chorus - Igor Stravinsky’s Oedipus Rex. The role of Oedipus will be sung by Vale Rideout, noted for his concert work and opera roles throughout the United States and abroad. Mezzo soprano Jennifer Rivera, known for her many appearances with New York City and abroad, will sing the role of Jocasta.

Ensembles and Other Featured Events

Participating ensembles include:

Dr. Jameson Marvin, conductor emeritus of the Harvard Glee Club, will present a session entitled Polyphony - rehearsal techniques to goose the elephants!, Dion Ritten will run a reading session, Christopher Kiver of Penn State will present a choral reading session of new works by composers from New Zealand and Australia, and David Morrow of Morehouse College will present on African American music.

Location

All events will be held in the Nicholas Music Center and the newly constructed Mortensen Hall, both located on the scenic Douglass Campus within walking distance of Downtown New Brunswick. The Heldrich Hotel in New Brunswick will be serving as the official hotel of the 2014 IMC Seminar. Registration will be arranged in the Nicholas Music Center lobby as performers arrive.

Social Events

Don't forget to sign up for the IMC social events!

On Friday night, the Rutgers University Glee Club will be hosting an all-seminar reception with hors d'ouerves in the lovely Trayes Hall, within walking distance of Nicholas Music Center. There will be an open bar for those who are 21 and over.

On Saturday, there will be an IMC party to send off the centennial seminar in style. There will be food and all groups are invited to come up on stage and sing their favorite songs! This event also will be located in Trayes Hall. Both events will begin immediately following the evenings' final performances.
